Perfect Basmati Rice

The perfect basmati rice is fluffy, tender, and far from a complex technique to master. All it takes is a little care, patience, and the correct water-to-rice ratio.

Ingredients
  

  • 300 g Basmati Rice
  • 600 ml Cold Water
  • Salt to taste

Method
 

  1. Wash the rice in three changes of cold water, then drain.
  2. Add the rice to a saucepan, cover with 600ml of water, and season to taste with salt. Give the rice a stir.
  3. Bring the rice to a boil, gently simmer, and cover the pan.
  4. Cook the rice for 12-14 minutes until all the water has been absorbed.
  5. Remove the rice from the heat, but keep it covered. Allow the rice to stand for 3-5 minutes.
  6. Fluff with a fork before serving.
